Our Journey
A truck. A dream. A new beginning.
Our story began with a 2011 Iveco Daily and a dream of bringing people together over beautiful food. The truck had started life as Bella’s Toastie's; on 17 March 2025, it became the beginning of our own adventure. With Julie’s experience as a chef and Jason beside her, we could already imagine the hatch open, the kitchen busy and happy people gathering outside. We brought it home full of hope.

The part we hadn’t imagined.
Those first months tested us. Unexpected mechanical problems, repairs and time in workshops turned the excitement into worry and heartache. Each setback delayed the moment we had been looking forward to, and some days it was hard to see past the next problem. But we kept taking the next step, supporting each other and holding onto the reason we had started. Slowly, repair by repair, the dream began to feel possible again.

A fresh canvas.
By August, the truck was plain white: a fresh canvas for The Food Studio. We worked through the logo, colours and artwork, finding a look that felt like us. Julie’s pink design and Jason’s help with the artwork gave the project a new energy. After so much attention on what needed fixing, it was lovely to spend time imagining what this little business could become.
Becoming The Food Studio.
The pink transformation arrived in December 2025, and suddenly the truck had its own personality. Seeing The Food Studio on the side made everything feel real, even as the finishing work continued. There were still details to work through and plenty of patience required. By June 2026, Julie described it as a “labour of love” of the past 15 months. That felt exactly right: a truck shaped by persistence, care and a shared belief that we would get there.

A full commercial kitchen inside.
Behind the pink exterior is the heart of The Food Studio: a full commercial kitchen. Inside are stainless-steel preparation benches, refrigeration, a cooking range and oven, a griddle, overhead extraction and dedicated sink facilities. It gives Julie a proper working kitchen on wheels, with the space and equipment to prepare and cook fresh food on site. This is where all that effort becomes something we can share: generous food, made with care.

At last, the hatch is open.
By September, seeing Julie smiling at the hatch said more than any list of repairs ever could. The finished truck is ready to operate, and the heartache of those early months has become part of a story we are proud of. From Bella’s Toastie's to plain white, and finally to our pink Food Studio, this has been a journey of not giving up. Now we’re ready for the chapter we dreamed about at the start: cooking, welcoming people and making happy memories around good food.
